A New Era Begin for the Flyers
With Sam Mackinnon leading a new coaching team, an exciting new-look roster and the arrival of Chinese international star Wang Siyu “Rainy”, the Southside Melbourne Flyers enter the new WNBL season with plenty to look forward to.
The challenge ahead is significant, but so is the opportunity.
The journey starts now
The Flyers are ready to embark on a new WNBL campaign, starting Friday night against the Sydney Flames at the State Basketball Centre. With renewed energy, fresh faces and a clear long-term vision as the club builds on its proud history of success in Australian women’s basketball.
Flyers' Championship Captain and former Opals Captain, Jenna O’Hea presented the players with their jerseys for the new season in a team lunch this week.
This is a new era built on clear purpose: investing in people, creating opportunities for emerging talent and establishing the foundations for sustained success. It is about bringing together a group of players and supporters who believe in the Flyers and want to help shape the club’s future.
As the team prepares to take the court, led by co-captains Hayley Andrews and Carley Ernst, the Flyers are ready to represent Melbourne with pride, embrace the opportunities ahead and continue building a club that develops champions, connects communities and contributes to the future of women’s basketball in Australia.
A new team. A clear vision. An exciting new chapter.
Bring on the season!
