The future is bright at the Southside Melbourne Flyers with exciting young guard Tess Heal committing to the club for the next two WNBL seasons, pending WNBL review and approval.
Another of Australian basketball’s most exciting young talents, Heal arrives at the Flyers as the club continues to assemble a roster capable of thrilling fans and challenging the league’s top teams.
For Heal, the move is also a homecoming after playing College basketball in the USA. A Melbourne local, she returns to her hometown ready to take the next step in her career and represent the city she has always called home.
“I’m so excited to be joining the Flyers and coming home to Melbourne for the next two seasons,” Heal said.
“Melbourne has always been home for me, so to have the opportunity to play in front of family, friends and the local basketball community means a lot. The club has a really exciting vision for the future, and I wanted to be part of that. I can’t wait to get on the court, meet the fans and represent the Flyers.”
For Flyers fans, Heal’s arrival is another exciting step in the club’s journey and a glimpse of what lies ahead.
Head Coach Sam Mackinnon said Heal’s commitment was a significant addition for the club.
“When recruiting Tess it was clear she understands the game and has a clear vision of where she wants her game to go. We’re thrilled to have her with us and to be bringing a Melbourne person back home. It is really exciting for our club and our fans.”
The signing is another strong statement of intent from the Flyers as the club continues to shape an exciting future. With Heal now locked in for the next two seasons, supporters can look forward to watching one of Melbourne’s own and one of Australia’s brightest young stars continue her journey in Flyers’ colours.
The countdown to the new WNBL season is on, and Flyers fans have another reason to be excited.
Welcome home, Tess.
